Unconditional love is not guaranteed with family, friends, or lovers. However it is almost 95% guaranteed with pets.

We all want to be loved and we don’t always find the perfect person who loves us with all their heart. Loving another person often means we need to love ourselves first. And in this complicated thing called life we are not all in a fully evolved state that allows us to love ourselves.

It takes time and we don’t want to just let anyone in our lives — expecting love and not getting it in return is not desirable.

But then comes Zeke, my mini dachshund, who has been my source of unconditional love and he has my unconditional love back. It is an exercise in learning how to love and give love without fear.

Anyone who has a pet will tell you how fulfilling it is. Perhaps this is the year of love and appreciation, and perhaps this is the year you are filled with unconditional love.
